Why weekly instead of monthly
Monthly budgets ask you to plan five weeks of spending in advance. That's a lot of variables and a lot of time to drift. Weekly budgets shrink the horizon: you plan a week, you review the week, you start fresh. It's the same tool with smaller numbers.
How to run a weekly cycle
- Sunday or Monday: set the weekly income and Planned amounts.
- Through the week: log Actual as you spend, not at the end.
- Sunday: check which categories were over and adjust next week's Planned.
- End of month: Download as Excel for your records.
Bills that arrive monthly
For rent, insurance, and any bill that arrives once a month, divide the monthly amount by the number of weeks in the month and put the weekly slice under Bills. The Savings section is the natural home for the leftover pieces so you're not caught short when the monthly bill actually lands.

Common questions
›Who is a weekly budget for?
People paid weekly, people whose income varies week to week, and anyone who finds a month too long a horizon to keep in their head. A weekly budget resets the plan on Monday and forces smaller, more concrete decisions.
›Can I turn this back into a monthly budget?
Yes. Rename the sections, adjust the numbers, and use Duplicate to next month at the end of the period. There's nothing weekly-specific in the tool; the preset just uses smaller round numbers.
›Does the Excel export change?
The file layout is identical to the monthly template — one sheet, summary, sections, live formulas. The sheet name will be the current month unless you rename it.
